Peter Rabbit is a timeless and well-loved character created by English author and illustrator Beatrix Potter. Born in 1866, she enjoyed a country upbringing that brought her into close contact with nature and a multitude of pets including rabbits, mice and frogs. It was her pet rabbit, Peter that she name and created her first book after ‘The Tale of Peter Rabbit’, first being privately published in black and white in 1901. She went on to publish over 23 books and sold more than 150 million copies.

Heritage of the quintessential British country-side told through the tales of Peter Rabbit, is also believed to be the very first every patented soft toy in 1903, making it the oldest licensed character.
