Breast Feeding Awareness Week is 24th to 30th June and was started to help raise awareness to parents to the importance of breastfeeding for the first 6months or any new baby’s life.
20 years ago, the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) launched its first World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) campaign with the theme: “Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative”. So much has happened in these 20 years, it is time to celebrate but also to look back, understand what has happened and why so they can then plan what more can be done to support all women to be able to optimally feed and care for of their infants and young children.
Various events are taking place around the country including those funded by the Public Health Agency with health visitors and midwives to give advice and support to Mum and peers around Mum. We have also noticed some stores running promotions on breast feeding related items and holding open mornings for Mums to get together for tea and cakes in store!
Lovely brand breastvest are joining in the spirit by offering all our retailers 10% off their vests! Simply enter code M8YON8 at checkout to redeem the value. Limited offer until the 30th June 2012.
If you want to do more to raise money to help raise awareness for breastfeeding, you can make a pledge. For every pledge received, the WBW 2012 Logo will appear on their world map – listing the names of celebrants! To participate, just complete your pledge direct to WABA at www.worldbreastfeedingweek.org
