Thomas & Friend’s Supports BBC’s Charity Initiative and New 2019 Series Announced

Thomas & Friends participated in the run up to the BBC’s Children in Need’s Appeal night on the 16th November by taking part in the ‘Get Your Ears On’ theme campaign. In the scene, character ‘The Fat Controller’ gathered ‘Thomas the Tank Engine’ and the ‘Steam Team’ together to make an important announcement – they need to get their Pudsey ears on!

This was part of the charity’s digital and social media campaign in which celebrity supporters put their Pudsey ears and encouraged members of the public to do the same, raising awareness. This year, as well as celebrities, famous animated characters from different TV generations got involved and donned their Pudsey ears too. Thomas & Friends joined the likes of; Wallace and Gromit, Mr Men, Bagpuss, Danger Mouse and other characters in putting their Pudsey ears on and taking part.

The campaign has been running throughout November. Kelly Philp, UK Marketing Mattel comments: “We were delighted to support BBC Children in Need this year, it’s such a great cause and we hope the Thomas & Friends video encouraged awareness for the charity and lots of selfies!”

The show this year also has a more contemporary feel, a brand-new theme tune and a refreshed Steam Team to include three girls and three boy engines, and Thomas, ensuring gender equality across the show, increasing global appeal for preschool viewers.
