The legendary fictional characters of ‘Super Friends’ were originally derived from comic strips published by DC Comics (owned by Warner Bros) who conceived the imaginative and popular superheroes Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. Hanna-Barbera obtained the rights to adapt the characters for a children’s cartoon TV series escalating the popularity of the characters. The animated series ran from 1973 to 1986 on ABC as part of its Saturday morning cartoon line-up; a point of nostalgia for parents in the revival of the marketed toys today.
Since the merger between Time Warner and Turner Broadcasting System in 1996 the characters have become more commonly aired on TV including on the Cartoon Network. Blockbuster movies now catapult hysteria of these revered characters even further with massive hits featuring Michael Caine and Christian Bale released in 2005, 2008 and 2012 and now fans and retailers can anticipate the 2016, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, film starring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill.
