It was in the early 60s that a British business man discovered Tommee Tippee and set up a manufacturing unit in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK to produce the baby feeding products of cups and accessories. The original cup was designed by a Doctor with a weighted base which prevented it ‘tippping’ over and was embellished with a picture of a dog owned by the plastic company’s producers called ‘Tommee’; hence the name Tommee Tippee. Today the brand is the number one in the UK and Australian baby essentials market with approximately 65% of its overall sales coming via distribution in international markets reaching over 40 countries. In 2020 it won the 'Parenting Brand of the Year' by Made for Mums.
Giant in the baby feeding industry, the brand has repeatedly also been credited a UK Superbrand, paring it with brands such as Nike and Microsoft, as voted by a national poll of UK Consumers.
