It was in the early 60s that a British business man discovered Tommee Tippee and set up a manufacturing unit in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK to produce the baby feeding products of cups and accessories. The original cup was designed by a Doctor with a weighted base which prevented it ‘tippping’ over and was embellished with a picture of a dog owned by the plastic company’s producers called ‘Tommee’; hence the name Tommee Tippee. Today the brand is the number one in the UK and Australian baby essentials market with approximately 65% of its overall sales coming via distribution in international markets reaching over 40 countries. In 2020 it won the 'Parenting Brand of the Year' by Made for Mums.
